Putting your house on the market can be a stressful time, especially if you have a smaller home and are worried it might not sell for as much as you hope. But the truth is there is always a buyer out there for every home, so take the time to maximize the strengths of your home.
Here are some tips to help make smaller homes look more appealing.
The less clutter in a home, the larger it feels. So, before you stage your home, try reducing the amount of things. You can sort through your belongings yourself. But why not have some fun? Try a reverse house-warming party, where instead of bringing you items guests pick from your belongings and take something home with them.
If you have drapes over your windows, or excessive doors, remove both to increase space and line of sight throughout your home. Leave on only doors that lead to bedrooms, bathrooms, and closets.
And reduce the “breaking up” of spaces throughout your home. The more broken up your spaces feel, the smaller it seems overall. There are simple ways to give your home a continuous feel such as painting every room the same color, removing artwork from walls, and removing rugs. Installing mirrors can also help make a room feel larger than it is.
